Great product!

I've used damprid in every home for years in multiple rooms. It does what it says. Sometimes I forget to put it in a room - the room may smell musty and like mildew. Within 2 days of using damprid - the smell will go away. The closet hanging ones are nice - but I prefer the refillable tubs to lesson the overall cost. Remember, you have to be intelligent, I've read so many reviews where people seem to expect that they will SEE activity immediately or where air is flowing freely, that it will suck the humidity from air is it passes through the room. It takes a few days and depending on the weather, it may take up to 10 days to see water collecting. Obviously, if humidity doesn't "collect" in a space, it won't be absorbing anything.

Also, check it every week - especially using it for the first time - you can't expect to leave it unattended. The sediment that may form on the bottom is easily removable with hot running water (I even use the "DampRid FG91 Any Room E-Z Fill Absorbing System with Pouch" and the sediment just melts away with hot water). The rest of the liquid, pour down the drain.

When considering multiple damprids to replace an electric humidifier - do it. It's cheaper in the long run, will only take out moisture when there is moisture, and won't increase energy costs.

Pros - no mildew damage, lowered health problems, better smells, besides bending and lifting - no energy cost to dehumidifying your home.
Cons - you have to follow directions, check it weekly, be patient.

Overall - the pros of using damprid compared to the cost of mildew damage - health wise as well - far exceeds whatever foolish mistake you can make (spilling it, overfilling it, ignoring it) while using the product.

"Where's that water coming from?!"

The disturbing mystery of water acccumulation in cabinet under our kitchen sinks. Evaporation from stored liquid in bottles? Leak in sink/counter edging? Dishwasher line problem? Disposal?

What a dilemma, especially with my allergies getting triggered by the musty dampness. I'll spare you further details, (we had everything checked by experts)...Just wanted to say DampRid sucks up any water or water evaporation, right into its cup, and I keep three cups under the kitchen sink, which is the only place I need to use the moisture absorber. I've bought so many cans of DampRid I only need to buy the large refill bag of crystals (also from Amazon at good savings.)

All it takes is a periodic check of the containers to see how much water has accumulated. Emptying and refilling will keep the process going smoothly.

Thanks, Amazon, for featuring DampRid at a reasonable price! P.S. I love having Amazon Prime! Free shipping on most of the things I purchase. Terrific!

must have for humid homes

I need these in my humid, humid South Florida apartment. I also don't have a vent in my bathroom so after a shower it can get pretty mildewy. But these prevent any bad odors.
