It attaches directly to the hose of your Dyson vacuum cleaner, and allows you to brush loose hair directly from your dog’s coat. At the release of a button, the collected hair is hygienically sucked into the vacuum, without the mess of conventional dog grooming tools.

The Dyson groom tool removes loose dog hair using it’s 364 slicker bristles. The bristles are angled at 35° and flex to an upright position when you apply pressure allowing them to penetrate the dog’s coat. Different breeds have different length coats, so bristle length is adjustable using the spring-loaded trigger. The bristles safely and hygienically retract for storage when not in use. The Dyson Groom tool fits all Dyson vacuum cleaners except DC01, DC21, Dyson Motorhead machines, and handhelds.

This is my first-ever Amazon review. I ordered this kit because it was almost half the price of the Groom Tool alone from other vendors. I imagine I will use the "Zorb "at some point but I have not yet done so, since I don't have any carpets. A word of caution for novice dog owners-the Groom Tool is basically a wire-pinned "slicker" brush, commonly used on thick, long haired, or double-coated dogs (and cats), such as my own two German Shepherd Dogs. Therefore, it may not be an appropriate tool for a slick-coated, short haired pet. For those pets, I would recommend using the stiff bristle "mud" brush that comes with the kit, or a similar brush (I practiced with my recently clipped Cocker and the "mud" brush worked well). I use my Groom Tool with a Dyson DC 39 animal vacuum, which has very powerful suction. It is important to use common sense when using the tool for the first time with your pet. If you have a tiny smooth-coated chihuahua, it is probably not going to be suitable, because of the strength of the vacuum suction and the type of brush . Get your pet used to your vacuum first, and then gradually begin to use the tool. It helps to practice on your own arm so you can get a sense of the appropriate pressure to use with the Groom Tool and your own vacuum's suction. My own dogs (two Shepherds and a Cocker Spaniel)were already used to the vacuum and so I found the Groom Tool very easy and efficient to use. I really like the flexibility, efficiency and ease of working with the Groom Tool attached to the vacuum hose-no more stopping every 10 seconds to clear the hair mats from the brush--a miracle!!! (German Shepherd owners will know what I mean). Only took about 30 seconds for me to get the feel of automatically releasing the button to immediately clear the hair from the tool. I really liked this safety feature too-unless the button is depressed, the pins will not stick out, so you won't accidentally poke yourself or your pet like you might with a traditional slicker brush. I love how the hair disappears into the vacuum by simply releasing the button! Great invention, Dyson! My two shepherds shed literally buckets full of hair twice a year, and bags full the rest of the time--this Groom Tool turns a chore into a relatively effortless task-and best of all my dogs thoroughly enjoy it too. An added bonus of using the Groom Tool is that any loose flaky skin particles also disappear into the vacuum. Although my relatively small canister fills up quickly with the fur, I don't think I'll be going back to conventional brushing any time soon. Excellent value and product!
UPDATE: I still love this tool, but since first posting this review I've noticed by watching YouTube reviews (including one where it is being used on a short haired cat who is enjoying every minute of it) that many people have attempted using the Groom tool with their hand-held (incredibly cumbersome!)or upright vacs, which generally have either no or a very short flexible hose. Your flexible hose length will make a huge difference in how easy or difficult this tool is to use with your pet. Do yourself and your pet a favor if you want to use this tool with your hand-held or upright-get a flexible hose attachment/extension like this one:

Absolutely awesome! I have a Great Pyrenees/Lab mix who sheds just standing still. I have to vacuum or sweep twice a day just to keep up.
Jake already loved to be vacuumed, but the little brush attachment on my vacuum didn't remove any but the loosest hair. This tool is amazing!!
One 5 minute groomimg session filled the dirt chamber on my Hoover WindTunnel cannister - and it holds a lot. It performs exactly as advertised and I couldn't be more pleased with the purchase.

I love this groom tool! I have a Golden Retriever and this has made grooming so much easier! I hated grooming before and dealing with the fly away hair and cleaning out the brush every stroke, now with one click of the button the hair is gone!
Make sure you know your dog will be okay with the vacuum running and brushing at the same time otherwise this is not a good choice for you and your dog.
