This steamer mop is much more than a 2 in 1. I have cleaned almost the whole house with this thing! I cleaned my vinyl floors, my carpet, my mirrors and windows, my childs highchair, our dining chairs, the quartz counters, the microwave and the stove grates with this little steamer and then took the wrinkles out of a shirt!

Starting with the floors. The mop is really easy to set up, you dump water into it the same way you would an iron. It has a large reservoir that will last a few cleanings easily. When you turn it on you wait for the color of the water to turn from red to blue meaning it is ready to use, which took quite literally 30 seconds. This is so much faster than the 5 minute warm up time for my other machine. It is feasible to leave this nearby and bring it out for quick clean ups. One thing I noticed was that the button to turn it on was difficult to depress and the mop itself was really quite hard to push. My arm was sore halfway through the kitchen so I called my husband in to try and he agreed that it was hard to push on vinyl floors. I think this would be a serious problem for an elderly user or someone with arthritis. The steamer sent clouds of steam up letting me know it was working and the floor was clean with one pass. If you don't sweep before you use this it will leave small lines of crumbs or dust here and there, but it is easy enough to wipe up afterwards with a damp towel.

This steamer works on carpet with a gliding tray, you pop it on over the cleaning cloth and then you can use it to "freshen" the carpet. This will not clean the carpet but it does disinfect which is a nice option with crawling kids around. It will also work on chairs! I cleaned and sanitized the high chair and our dining chairs with the attachments provided. I was also able to clean with windows and mirrors with the squeegee attachment.

This is a versatile cleaner that has endless uses. I really like the fact that you can clean the floors and then detach the handheld steamer and clean other areas of the house with this.

Some things to note:
*You can only use water in this, no scents or chemicals are supposed to be used with this. If your house has hard water you need to buy deionized water for use.
*There are a lot of attachments, but they all fit into a little bag for easy storage and use.
*This is not a good product for the elderly or arthritic, it is heavy, hard to push and the buttons are not easy to depress.
*Based on clean floors alone, this product does the same job as my $50 steam mop. The value in this mop is the attachments, the removable steamer, the convenience and quality of the product all around. If you just want clean floors alone though, you can find a cheaper model.

If you have tile or hardwood flooring, like I do, this Black & Decker BDH1850SM 2-in-1 Steam Mop MUST HAVE. If you were one of the first to own a steam mop when they became popular 15 years ago, please read. I have owned several steam mops because we are in the catering business. I remember those infomercials back in the 90's and actually purchased one. It was a piece of crap with too many quirks. Steam mops have come a long way and have vastly improved today. This is because of constant improvements over the years.

The mop is electric. NEVER BUY A CORDLESS OR RECHARGEABLE STEAMER. They require too much power to properly heat and make steam...ONLY BUY A CORDED OR NON RECHARGE UNIT.

This model has something unique, a control to allow for a big blast of steam for those tougher stains or messes. It will release 50% more steam on demand or whenever needed. The tank sets above the pivot for the mop head. I find the tank easily accessible. The tank holds less than about 11 oz. LED lights red and blue monitor the tank for you.

The cord is extra long, 25 feet and you will not be worried about distant moping. The pivoting head makes easy cleaning all the way to the baseboards and corners.it comes with two micro fiber pads and two rectangle shaped pads for the hard to reach corners. All mops are machine washable. This is probably the best steamer for pivoting on the market today.

If you have 300 sq ft or more of hard surface floors, this is a MUST HAVE. I recommend this Black & Decker BDH1850SM 2-in-1 Steam Mop.

I have over 1500 square feet of tile and laminate flooring in my home. I rely on a Roomba to clean up dry debris on a daily basis but I still have to "mop it down" about every 2 weeks. I've been relying on Wet Swiffer pads but I've always been interested in an option that didn't require as much discarded material. This Black & Decker steam mops gives me the cleaning power I need while not requiring me to stop and change disposable pads every few minutes.

The B&D steam mop has settings for three different surfaces. I chose the "wood & laminate" setting for my laminate flooring and the "stone & tile" setting for my ceramic and travertine tile. Velcro holds a very soft micro-fiber cloth onto the head of the steam mop. The cloth is so soft that I had no concern of scratching any of the surfaces. Two of the washable cloths are included so you can swap out a dirty one for a clean one and extend your cleaning time.

The first thing I noticed is that the Black & Decker steamer heats up in a hurry. Within 10 seconds of power on, the unit was ready to steam clean my floors. I had expected a lengthy heat-up period so this was a happy surprise. While steaming, the unit emits a quiet high-pitch sound that reminds me "steaming in progress". This is good so you don't accidentally set the steamer in one place and potentially damage your floor.

Operation was simple: just push the mop back and forth. It is heavy enough that it pushes down on the floor with enough force to clean up light dirt such as dog footprints or other marks. When you find a tougher stain, you can push a button and temporary flood of extra steam is produced. I found the short burst of extra steam did lift some tough stains, particularly the water drop stains all around my dog's water bowl.

The weight of the mop makes it a bit harder to push than my Wet Swiffer. But again, I think that extra mass translates into additional cleaning work being done for you.

The power cord is quite long and I can easily do a large room from a single outlet. The cord wraps up nicely along the back spine of the cleaner, similar to what you'd have with an upright vacuum cleaner.

Because the cleaning cloth is attached with velcro, if your floor is rough, this product might not work well for you. My travertine tiles have sharp edges and the cloth occasionally caught on those in areas where my floor isn't perfectly level. When that happened, the velcro would start to pull away and then I'd have to reach down and reattach the microfiber to the cleaning surface. This didn't happen often but I don't have that much travertine. On my ceramic tiles (with slightly rounded-off edges), I did not have this problem.

In addition to the upright handle, there is a grip in the middle of the body. When I used the unit to steam clean my wood floors, I grabbed onto this extra grip and found it was a perfect fit for cleaning stairs.

One feature of this unit is that the steam heater is modular and can be ejected to serve as a hand-held device. I tried this but found it cumbersome. I used the included grout cleaner/scrub tool in the hand-held mode and found it completely ineffective. That said, I think this mode might work well for light steam cleaning of mini blinds and I plan on trying that.

The unit seems well constructed. It is made of mostly hard plastics with a lightweight aluminum spine. After some time with the steamer, I concluded that it would probably last a long time.

When I cleaned my darker color floors, feint streaks were left behind. I never have streaks when I use Wet Swiffer. To me, these streaks made my floors look dirty and are the reason for my three-star review. You wouldn't thing steam could leave behind streaks. The problem is that after a bit of cleaning, the mop head is now sopping wet (from all the steam that has passed through it) and at that point, you're pretty much pushing around a very hot wet rag. Even though the water is distilled, it streaks. I don't see this on my off-white tile floors, but it is visible on the laminate.

The water tank holds enough water to steam about 750 square feet. I end up filling it twice when cleaning my ~1500 square feet of hard flooring. Refills are easy and the unit heats up very quickly so I was quite pleased with how long each tankful of water lasted.
