The FP-2 Chemex Filter Paper is designed for specific use with ONLY the Chemex CM-1GH & CM-1C (pint size models) 1-3 Cup Coffee Makers and will not work with any other of the Chemex Coffee Makers. If you are looking for filters for any and all other sizes of Chemex coffee brewers, the other 4 Chemex paper filter styles (FP-1, FC-100, FSU-100 or FS-100) will work. Chemex filters remove even the finest sediment particles as well as the undesirable oils and fats. The formulation of the filter permits the proper infusion time by regulating the filtration rate - not to slow, not too fast. Good infusion of the coffee grounds (as in brewing and steeping tea) gives coffee a richer flavor while at the same time making possible precise fractional extraction: filtering out the undesirable components which make coffee bitter by allowing only the desirable flavor elements of the coffee bean to pass through. The Chemex filter is folded into a cone shape, exactly as in laboratory techniques. This assures uniform extraction since the water filters through all the grounds on its way to the apex of the cone. The Chemex filter is guaranteed not to burst under the weight of the liquid during filtration and not to break when lifting out the grounds. Fully-bodied, richer flavor, from less coffee and as strong as you like without bitterness - that's what the Chemex filter gives you.

Chemex coffee filters are the filters needed to use for the chemex carafe.
In my opinion, and I have been drinking coffee since I was 13yrs old,and have tried and used many different coffeemakers and espresso machines throughout the years, this is the BEST.
I did experiment with the other filters, as I was out and waiting for these. I had to use 2 and the full body flavor of the coffee wasn't there entirely as it is with the chemex filters.
They are also great for any other coffeemaker, I am sure.
I highly recommend these, there are many in a box, and are perfect for that wonderful cup of coffee anytime during the day.

Chemex, in my opinion, makes the best damn regular coffee. I've tried french presses, vacuum systems, etc.; Chemex 8 Cup Coffee Maker CM 8A tops them all. And it's not even the coffee maker that is the key but the filter paper. Since the Chemex system was invented by a scientist, back in the '30's, I can only assume he was using some laboratory filter paper in his shop and figured out that was what was making his coffee taste so good.

As far as I can tell, Chemex filter paper removes the slightly sour/acid taste from coffee, that I find objectionable. This, in turn, lets through the complex bitter/sweet flavors and allows me to taste them more fully.

For what it's worth, I grind my dark roasted beans right before using them, grinding 6 cups worth for wife and myself. We've also made our own ceramic coffee pots that have the same size top, to hold the Chemex filters. Works just as well as the Chemex pots. Now, if I can just find an auto-brew device that can use Chemex filters for work...

Go with these filters, do not get the unbleached (brown) ones

If you have a Chemex coffee maker these are the filters to use. The bleached (white) filters are great.

DO NOT opt for the unbleached (brown) filters as they impart a VERY strong and unpleasant taste and smell of paper. Go with the bleached ones unless you like your coffee to taste like the paper towels you would find in a gas station bathroom (I'm serious, that's exactly what your coffee will taste like if you use the unbleached filters.)
