Solid, quality fans

I purchased this at Costco earlier today and I have to say I'm impressed on several levels. It is evident that a lot of thought went into this product, from the packaging to the device itself. Unboxing and assembly was trivial--just screw the base onto the large fan (and you don't have to search for the screws, as they're already in place). A helpful note in the packaging suggests using the top foam cap to hold the fan upside-down as you attach the base, and this works well. The small fan requires no assembly. Both units are primarily black matte plastic, though the large one has a perforated metal intake grille.
Both fans feel solidly constructed, and the infrared remote (batteries included) even has an LCD display. You can select the various modes of operation by pressing the four buttons on the large fan or the remote--both have the same control scheme. There are four speeds, oscillation which covers approximately a 90 degree arc, timed auto shut-off, and a mode which "randomly" varies speed to imitate natural wind (I have not yet tried this). A helpful "quick start" card explains all you need to know about its operation. The small fan has a button to select speed, and another for oscillation. Operation of both is quiet, even on the highest setting.
My only complaint is that the small fan's control button requires some force to operate (it appears to be mechanical, rather than the electric control of the large one), and it can't be controlled with the remote. Overall, though, I am very pleased with the set.

I put this fan in my teenaged son's room. He has a lot of gadgets and computer equipment in there so even with the AC and ceiling fan going full blast it was still uncomfortably hot. I tried regular circular fans but he complained that the wind blew all his papers away. Then I tried this Seville Tower Fan, and I was shocked when he gave me a big, tight hug and said the fan was awesome.
Likes:
✔ Oscillates smoothly and silently (no ticking sounds like in other fans).
✔ Pushes "cool" air. I was surprised that the fan sends out what feels like cold air. I guess with the tower shape the fan is able to pull in the cold air that settles near the floor and push it upwards toward the center of the room. Makes it feel like a mini AC unit.
✔ The "Eco" mode is almost silent, but the noise level increase slightly as the speed of the fan increases. I actually like the sound the highest level makes. Very soothing in a "white/ambient noise" kind of way.
✔ The time is a wonderful energy saving feature. You can set the time so it doesn't run all night long. Saves energy and money.
✔ The remote is very useful and easy to understand.
✔ The tower shape and color is very sleek looking, and blends into the room décor. It doesn't stand out like the big, round fans. Also takes up a lot less room than the round fans.
Dislikes:
✘ The only thing I dislike about the fan is that it wobbles if you touch it. It doesn't wobble during normal operation, but if you misplace the remote and have to use the control button on the tower the things feels like it is going to topple over. The plastic base needs to be larger and heavier to keep the tower from wobbling.
✘ I also don't like the control on the little mini fan that comes with this unit. There is only one button that you must repeatedly press to cycle through on/off and all the different fan speeds. An on/off button and a separate button for each speed would be much nicer.
So I'm very satisfied with the fan, it does the job perfectly. And any non-computer device that a teenaged boy would call "awesome" must be very awesome indeed.

The Seville Classics Combo fan is a very decent practical pair of fans. The taller fan is controlled by a remote control. It has many features that include a timer from 30 minutes to 7.5 hours. There are four levels of wind power; if you just want to circulate the wind in the room without much noise then the lowest level is just right for you. If it is too hot in the room, the highest level can give you the stronger breeze to cool you off. The natural wind is more to simulate the random pattern of the wind when you are outside, so it goes from a gentle breeze to a gust in an unpredictable pattern.
The first thing to do is to assemble the base of the big fan because it won't fit the box with the base installed. All you need is a screwdriver and a couple of minutes. It is pretty stable and will not likely to fall unless your kids are playing running with the bulls in the room.
Remote control has an LCD panel. You can see the pretty icons while adjusting the fan. One problem with the LCD is that the black and white display can be hard to see in low light. Good thing is that it is very responsive and you can hook the remote at the back of the fan when you don't need it.
The big fan sits at the living room while the smaller fan goes on top of the shelf in the kids' room.
Cons:
- The small fan cannot be controlled with the remote and the button needs to be pressed hard which is a bit awkward when the fan is oscillating.
