Flexible, tear-resistant Filtrete Synthetic Dust Bags expand as you clean. Air flows easily through the multilayer construction, yet traps more dust and fine particles, preventing clogs and prolonging your exhaust filter’s life—more than 25 times While paper dust bags cause suction loss when only half full, Filtrete technology ensures continual full-power suction that lasts three times longer.

Generally, I wouldn't bother writing a review for a vacuum bag. However, because the 3M G/N filtrete bags (and similar replacement bags for other Miele models) are priced on Amazon.com currently for $6.90 for five 3M bags, as compared to four Miele bags for $18.90, I thought it warrants another review to help others with their decision.

A box of 3M bags also comes with 2 motor filters, similar to Miele. On inspection, 3M's bags, as well as the filters, are considerably thinner than Miele's. Moreover, with every Miele bag there is a "spring-loaded, self-locking collar" that automatically closes when the bag is removed from vacuum inlet, thus sealing the bag and preventing dust from escaping when changing bags; whereas this system is lacking with 3M. Miele promotes its superior vacuum bags because of the "9-layer electrostatically charged material that traps micro-sized debris in the airtight vacuum chamber." On the other hand, 3M claims their superior filtrete technology - when compared to paper dust bags. With out a doubt, Miele's bags are a higher grade and provide a more superior chamber to trap dust and fine particles over 3M's filtrete bags. But is it worth the huge price difference? That depends on the user. If a person suffers allergies from dust and pollens, and a controlled home-environment is essential, then the superior filtration and trapping system of Miele's bags may be well worth the difference in cost. However, for the average users like myself, superior filtration afforded by a superior bag may not be much noticeable - at least not to me.

3M's vacuum bags are well made and adequate replacements for Miele vacuum cleaners, but may not provide the extent of filtration and dust trapping as with Miele's. It's worth trying the cheaper 3M bags to see if you find a noticeable difference. You can always go back to the more expensive ones.

Would not buy again

I'm assuming the bag itself filters well. The problem is the plastic inlet fitting that leaks somewhat in the interior of the vacuum and when removing the bag there is dust on the inside. I had to blow it out with a compressor. The other issue is the plastic inlet closure fitting cannot be fully closed when removing and discarding the bag. The plastic is much too stiff to close completely. Does not measure up to the Miele. The absolute best bag I have found are the bags made by Envirocare Technologies. The inlet and closure fitting is of cardboard but performs as well as the Miele and is much lower in cost.

What's the saying, you get what you pay for? Well, it holds true here. These bags will hold dirt, but nothing like the original ones. Mind you the original bags cost $18 plus dollars for three, but you get some pretty solid features for that. I was really hoping these bags were going to at least preform almost as well as the originals, but that wasn't the case. These bags don't have the plastic piece that surrounds where the hose enters the bag and because of that you get dust in your vacuum, and probably in the air you're breathing. This is the reason I bought the vacuum to begin with, because it is very good at removing small particles from our environment.
I don't think these bags are horrible, like I said they do remove and hold dirt. Just not as well as the originals do. I don't want all that fine dust in my machine or in my house. I do wish someone would make a less expensive bag that worked well, so we did have a good choice. The bags did show up in a timely manner and I had no problems dealing with these folks.
