The Dyson DC23 Turbinehead is a powerful canister vacuum, for all-around performance. DC23 Turbinehead features Dyson Level 3 Root Cyclone technology, the most efficient technology for capturing microscopic dust. Turbine head refers to the air-driven brush bar, which spins up to 90 times per second, and is ideal for cleaning medium and short pile carpets. It can also be turned off for hard floor and delicate surfaces.
DC23 Turbinehead has a lightweight adjustable wand. An extension tube adjusts to the length you want, and it is sealed, to maximize airflow and increase suction at the floor tool. It also features a detachable handle, which allows you to fit tools directly to the end of the hose, for cleaning in tighter places. DC23 Turbinehead has a smoother cable rewind system, with increased torque so it’s faster than before, and less likely to catch on obstacles.

Dyson refurbishes vacuums that are returned to us by retailers or consumers. Refurbishing these machines, rather than disposing of them, means that the parts and materials are re-used instead of wasted.
When a machine comes to us to be refurbished, it is first stripped down as far as necessary. Components removed from the machine that meet our high standards of quality are kept and cleaned. Most damaged or broken components are sent away for recycling. Power! Versatility! ...little bit cumbersom

First-off... this is a $500 vacuum which I got for $230 on Amazon (refurb).
Vacuum looks and functions like-new.
Incredibly powerful, and versatile. With the included attachments, I'm vacuuming areas I either couldn't reach, or lacked the power to vacuum in the past.
The Turbine head is powerful and does an excellent job of vacuuming rug/carpet.
The turbine head does get bogged-down on long-ply carpet, but still functions.
The head fits under anything, and turns corners like a breeze.
The canister itself pulls along quite easily, and also "mounts" to stairs.
Why 4 stars? Because some of the ergonomics of this model are lacking:
- Hose and handle do not wrap around canister, or attach in any convenient way.
- Activating Turbine head is odd. Weak/Achy hands may not be able to perform the function.
Oh, and not that this matters, but this thing looks awesome.
If I could break-down the "star" rating, it would look like this:

I was looking for a vacuum that was easy to carry for stairs and take outside for car cleaning, powerful enough to clean pet hair and all that dirt trekked in from mountain hiking, camping or day in the woodshop, and small enough to get dust bunnies underneath furniture I can't move due to limited apartment space (tall order), and equally good on hardwood floors. Oh, and doesn't shoot out dust like most vacuums do... I came across the canister dyson, sounded too good to be true, so i purchased a refurbished one to save some bucks. Not only did I receive it in less than 2 days via Free Shipping through amazon(!), it was refurbished to new condition, not a scratch on it. AND... this vacuum does everything i asked for. My apartment has never been so dust-free. It works excellent on the hardwood floors (so no more broom + dust pan + swiffer + rinse off broom and dust pan....OCD.....), its not bulky, the swivel feature allows vacuum to go completely flat so gets ALL THE WAY underneath my furniture without moving a thing (5"H spacing), and excellent suction as they advertise. Attachments worked great on upholstery. I have a couple shag area rugs, and turbo brush head got stuck (too much suction), but once I figured out not to push down at all while vacuuming, its great. I have limited space for storing it (coat closet) - detach the extender and wrap the hose around the unit and it's diminished to the size of a large duffel bag, which was perfect for the space I had to work with. Oh and one last note: i've been injured in the past by previous retractable cords that zip way too fast; this one retracts gently (minor detail, but one I personally appreciate). Would absolutely recommend to anyone looking for similar features.

Yikes! My machine arrived by UPS, and as I signed the electronic signature pad, I watched bedbugs crawl out of the shipping carton onto UPS man. I was afraid to open the shipping carton. I took it outside the house and carefully opened and, low and behold, we found dead bedbugs at the bottom of the shipping carton and baby bedbugs hanging onto life on the inside walls of the shipping carton. The Refurbishment Factory is must aware of this because - we smelled pesticides when we opened the plastic wrapping that the machine parts were encased in. I've resealed the box and returned it to Amazon. I hope they don't unfortunately sell it to someone else and that somebody reads this review before buying these machines.
My recommendation is to think twice before you buy a refurbished vacuum cleaner from this vendor.
